Dr. Richard Marks

Dr. Richard Marks, holds graduate degrees in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy and Religious Education.  In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor (Virginia) he is also an ordained minister.  Based in Jacksonville, FL and serving as the Founder and Executive Director of Marriage for Life, Inc., Dr. Marks and his team work with couples in distress through their HOPE Weekends.  HOPE Weekends are three day relationship intensives for couples who seem stuck and where traditional marriage counseling does not seem to help.  HOPE Weekend is not therapy but a three day educational process whereby couples learn essential skills for bonding, connecting, communicating, problem solving, managing emotional energy, how to get unstuck from “Trigger Troubles,” and much more.  Dr. Marks likes to inform his participants that a HOPE Weekend is not therapy, though it is highly therapeutic.  And, of course, it is much cheaper than a divorce, both financially and emotionally.  Dr. Marks is also able to provide 2-3 day intensives for a married couple who needs special focus and triage to get unstuck and find hope, and a measure of healing.  These intensive relationship triage sessions are typically, but not always, conducted with the knowledge and support of the couple’s marriage therapist.
